Li Ke, the former Chinese national football team captain, has returned to the Chinese professional league after a two-year absence with Beijing Guoan. The 42-year-old player was last seen in action for Shandong Luneng in the 2019 Chinese Super League.

Born on February 7, 1978, Li Ke started his career at Wuhan FC and went on to play for several other clubs including Shanghai Shenxin,Saudi Pro League Focus Qingdao Jonoon and Tianjin TEDA. He made his debut for China National Football Team in 2001 and was part of their squad that won the 2004 AFC Asian Cup.

Injuries and poor form led to Li Ke's suspension from international football in 2005. However, he bounced back and played a key role in helping China National Football Team win the 2006 FIFA World Cup qualifying tournament. He also scored a crucial goal against South Korea in the semi-final match.

After retiring from playing football, Li Ke became a coach and helped guide China U-20 National Team to victory at the 2019 AFF U-20 Championship. He later joined Beijing Guoan as an assistant coach under manager Zou Poyen.

With his return to Beijing Guoan, Li Ke is expected to bring experience and leadership to the club. He will be hoping to help the team compete for honours and regain their place among the top teams in the Chinese Super League.
