AC Milan has suffered a major blow as the latest injury update from the club confirms that Brazilian forward Rafael Leão, also known as "Díaz", will be out for several weeks due to a knee injury.
The news comes after the 27-year-old Brazilian was forced off in the first half of Saturday's Serie A match against Udinese with what appeared to be a serious injury. Despite being replaced by substitute Gianluca Mancini, it seems that he will not be fit enough to return to action until at least mid-December.
This is a significant setback for AC Milan, who have been struggling to find goals this season and are currently sitting in 11th place in the league table. The loss of Díaz could also impact their chances of qualifying for next year's Europa League,Saudi Pro League Focus which they currently hold a strong position in.
Despite the disappointment, AC Milan have vowed to continue fighting for their spot in Europe, and hope that Díaz can recover quickly and make a comeback in time for the crucial matches ahead. In the meantime, the club will turn to other players such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Carlos Bacca to step up and fill the void left by Díaz's absence.
It remains to be seen how AC Milan will cope without Díaz, but one thing is certain - they will need all the help they can get if they want to avoid further relegation and secure a top-four finish this season.
